This paid Spanish Research opportunity can benefit not only you but also your community by helping researchers better understand and serve Spanish-speaking populations.
We’re excited to showcase a study like this, one that’s accessible, safe, and a great entry point for those who are curious about participating in research but may be hesitant. Let us know in the comments below if you'd be interested in more studies like this in the future!
How Many People in New York City Are Hispanic?
New York City is home to a diverse population from all over the world, and that diversity is what makes the city so unique. Built and shaped by immigrants throughout its history, the city continues to thrive on cultural richness. Spanish, is the second most commonly spoken language in New York, reflecting the strong presence of Spanish-speaking communities across the five boroughs.
Latino Population in New York City
Data from the 2019 Census suggests that a large portion of the Latino immigrant population in New York City comes from the Dominican Republic.
Even though there is a large Hispanic/Latino population in New York City, participation in research studies among these communities remains low. This lack of representation creates gaps in research, which can have long-term negative effects on healthcare, education, and policy.
We understand that the word "research" can feel intimidating. (We talk more about what research really means [here – Why It's Important that Minority Communities Join Research Studies].) However, not all research involves medical procedures. The study we’re presenting is non-invasive, it requires no scans, blood draws, or medications. Instead, it’s a simple, paper-and-pencil paid research study focused on Spanish language and people from bilingual communities.

New York is home to a vibrant and growing Spanish-speaking community. If you speak Spanish and know even a little English, you may qualify as bilingual, and that’s a true superpower! English is one of the hardest languages to learn, so being able to speak more than one language is an incredible achievement you should be proud of.
